Reporting to the Producing Artistic Director, the Director of External Affairs formulates, implements, and manages all strategies and timelines for individual fundraising campaigns. Specific responsibilities include:
- Managing a comprehensive annual campaign targeted at individual donors and VIP members (WP’s audience development program)
- Researching major donor prospects, facilitating and attending (when appropriate) meetings between prospects and organizational leadership, and ensuring appropriate follow-up
- Assisting in the identification and pursuit of sponsorship, underwriting, and enhancement opportunities for specific projects
- Assisting in the lobbying of government officials
- Organizing and executing cultivation and fundraising events, including opening night celebrations and, in concert with the Board of Directors, the annual Women of Achievement Awards benefit
- Creating annual letters of appeal, coordinating mailing, and tracking results.
- Improving and managing online giving
- Writing acknowledgements and delivering any promised incentives to individual donors
- Assisting with the preparation of Board communications
- Participating in Board meetings and Board committee meetings when appropriate
- Monitoring trends in the community and adapting strategies as necessary
- Maintaining an accurate and efficient database of individual donors and VIP members and prospects
- Providing accurate donor and VIP member lists for programs and promotional materials
- Recruiting volunteers and interns to WP’s office
- Attending seminars and industry events when appropriate
- Other duties as may be reasonably assigned.
Candidates should have a demonstrable interest in the mission of Women’s Project; excellent verbal and presentation skills; computer fluency in MS Office and Filemaker Pro; and at least 5 years experience in revenue generation in a culturally-oriented NPO. A Bachelor’s degree is required. Salary package is competitive.
